Leader of the Opposition, Sir Keir Starmer has written to Prime Minister Boris Johnson asking him to 'correct the record' after making inaccurate comments at Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs).
At PMQs, Sir Keir quoted advice, that until 12 March, was the government's own official advice. The advice, published in February, said that 'it is therefore very unlikely that anyone receiving care in a care home or the community will become infected'.
Speaking at PMQs, Mr Johnson denied that this was official government advice, saying 'No, Mr Speaker, it wasn't true that the advice said that'.
In a letter copied to the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Keir has called on Mr Johnson to 'come to the House of Commons at the earliest opportunity to correct the record', saying that 'it is more important than ever that Government ministers are accurate in the information they give.'

Sir Keir Starmer focused largely on care homes when asking questions of the Prime Minister at PMQs on Wednesday, after deaths in care homes made up 40.4% of the overall number of coronavirus fatalities across England and Wales in the week to 1 May, according to data from the Office for National Statistics.
