When Arryn Siposs found out he tested positive for COVID-19 early Wednesday morning, his response was one of disbelief.
"When they told me this morning I was just like, 'Oh, really,'" Siposs said. "They were like, 'Unfortunately.' But as I said, we’ll move on and it won’t be a problem and everything should be fine in the coming days."
Siposs, an undrafted rookie out of Auburn expected to compete for the Lions' punting job this summer, was one of five players the team placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, along with wide receiver Kenny Golladay, tight end T.J. Hockenson, safety Jalen Elliott and cornerback Amani Oruwariye.
Players placed on the list have either tested positive for the novel coronavirus — Lions players were all tested for the first time Tuesday — or been around someone who has tested positive.
Siposs said he is asymptomatic and does not know how he might have caught the virus.

"I was actually speaking about it with my wife earlier today and I just, I don’t have any ideas, so it’s just one of those things that’s happened and unfortunately I can’t do much about it," he said. "But yeah, no symptoms, haven’t felt terrible or any headaches or coughs or anything like that so it was news to me when I found out."
Neither Golladay nor Hockenson returned messages seeking comment, but both players have posted photos and videos of themselves training with others on social media this offseason.
Golladay spent time working out with Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford in California and wide receiver Danny Amendola in Texas this spring, while Hockenson posted video of a workout with San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle — his former Iowa teammate — earlier this month.
Golladay, who led the NFL with 11 touchdown receptions last season, is expected to sign a contract extension this summer that makes him one of the NFL's highest-paid receivers.
Hockenson, the Lions' first-round pick last year, caught 32 passes for 367 yards as a rookie. He suffered an ankle injury late in the year and finished the season on injured reserve.
Though NFL teams are permitted to trim their rosters to 80 players, the Lions plan to keep a full 90-man roster for the time being to help prevent the spread of the virus, to allow coaches a full evaluation of all players and to help navigate short-handed roster scenarios like they face now.
Oruwariye and Elliott are ticketed for backup roles in the Lions' secondary this fall, while Siposs will compete with Jack Fox for the punting job once he's out of quarantine.

Siposs said he's not sure when he's due for his next test, but promised, "I'll be fine and ready to go when I need to be."
Most Lions players underwent a second coronavirus test Wednesday and have a third one scheduled for Friday. Players have to pass all three tests before they're allowed in the building this weekend for physicals and equipment pickup. On-field practices begin Aug. 12, though specialists are allowed to kick and punt next week.
“(I'm) all good," Siposs said. "Just obviously a bit of a surprise, but I don’t have any symptoms or anything like that so, yeah, I feel really good. It’s just one of those situations and we’ll be all good. Nothing to be concerned about. We’ll get re-tested again in the next few days and I’m sure we’ll be fine."
