President Trump, first lady Melania and their son, Barron, were taken into an underground bunker on Friday night amid mounting protests outside the White House, with one source telling CNN that such measures are taken when conditions are “elevated to RED.”
Trump took plenty of heat on social media — #bunkerboy was trending and the memes were flying — when the initial report broke, and the New York Times stirred it up by running with the headline, “As protests and violence spill over, Trump shrinks back.”
In an interview on Wednesday, Trump said it’s just more fake news:
“ ‘It was a false report... I went down during the day and I was there for a tiny, little short period of time, and it was much more for an inspection.’ ”
That’s what really happened, according to Trump, who explained the situation to Fox News host Brian Kilmeade. “I’ve gone down two or three times, all for inspection,” he added.
