TRACKING: Really warm and extremely windy - kwwl.com

abaikans.blogspot.com

This Evening: Unexpected clouds that developed right over eastern Iowa and nowhere else in the state have spoiled the prospects of a sunny day up until this point. Clouds are thinning out and we will see some sunshine to close out the day. Temperatures were held in the 40s thanks to the clouds and a breezy northwest wind. Winds will decrease this evening as they shift from the northwest to the south.

Tonight: Low clouds should thin out but we may have some passing high level clouds with partly cloudy to mostly clear skies. South winds will gradually increase through the night with lows in the low to mid 30s.

Monday: The south winds show no sign of stopping throughout the day on Monday as we see them sustained at 15 to 30 mph with gusts as high as 50 mph. This will skyrocket our high temperatures into the mid and upper 60s with a couple of 70s possible. We will also see sunny skies. The warm temperatures, strong winds, and dry conditions will lead to an extremely high fire danger and burning should be avoided.

Winds remain strong through Monday night as they gust to 35 mph from the south. Lows will drop to the low and mid 40s by the mid morning hours of Tuesday. Clouds will be on the increase with a stray shower north.

Tuesday: A cold front will give us a whiplash effect for Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies and a breezy northwest wind leading to falling temperatures throughout the day. Our warmest temperatures for the day will be at midnight – in the low to mid 50s. Stray showers are possible but shouldn't be widespread. Lows fall to the mid and upper 20s by Wednesday morning.

Wednesday: We will still be in the northwest flow with a breezy 10 to 20 mph wind. Our highs for Wednesday will only be in the upper 30s and low 40s, especially with the prospect of some pop-up clouds thanks to the northwest wind. Lows may fall to the low 20s for Thursday morning.

Rest of the Week: Wind will shift to the south as skies stay mostly sunny to close out the week. Highs are back to the upper 40s Thursday and low 60s Friday with a strong wind.

Weekend: Easter weekend should be very warm and mainly dry with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. We will see some sun.

Next Week: We will see rain and storm chances next week with mild temperatures continuing.
