OWOSSO, MI — As clean-up crews tend to the aftermath of a fire at the former Jumbo’s Burgers and Brew located in downtown Owosso, a small crowd of bystanders gathered to watch.
The fire started at around 9:15 p.m. Thursday, April 1 on the corner of Comstock and South Washington Street in Owosso. Multiple fire crews arrived at the scene to fight the blaze.

Although the Bar closed in 2019, people gathered and shared memories of the establishment.
Beryl and Barbara Schaar, both former patrons arrived at the site late Friday morning after hearing of the news from family and friends.
“My daughter sent me a message,” Barbara Schaar said. “‘Jumbo’s burned down!’”
The two long-time patrons shared memories of the restaurant. Jumbo’s was the site of their high school reunion. “Good food, good service,” Beryl Schaar said. “It was a great place to eat.”
The Schaar’s were disappointed by its closing in 2019. “It would be very very nice if they got open again,” Beryl Schaar said. “But by the way it looks, I doubt it’ll reopen.”
“It was missed,” said Barbara Schaar. “Now it’s really going to be missed.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
