In his first game back since breaking his leg last October, NC State quarterback Devin Leary describes the excitement of playing in front of a full Carter-Finley Stadium in the Wolfpack's 45-0 win versus USF.

did you feel like you maybe had a little bit of rust early in the game with how obviously how long you went between playing in games and what was kind of just your mentality and your thought process to sticking with it after the interception and coming back and making some of the really spectacular throws that you made later in the game. Yeah, I think definitely in the first half there was some missed opportunities that I wish I could give back. But I mean something that we always preach here, something that coach during, tells us coach Beck and I even say to the offense every single series that we just have to go wanna know, continue that wanna know mentality and no matter what happens during the play, we always got the next play to bounce back from and that was kind of my approach. These horns are again go ahead Justin seven obviously your first game back in carter friendly stadium in a long time now. I know it's an emotional night for the whole team just having the fans back in the stands. But could you take me through what your individual emotions were going into this game running out of the tunnel and just like what your thoughts were before kickoff and everything. Yeah, I was extremely excited. I mean it was a feeling that I couldn't really described and I haven't really felt it before since last october and just being able to run into the stadium, full stadium Wolfpack nation and with all my brothers and my teammates behind me is just an undescribable feeling and I mean it was just something I'm always gonna cherish for the rest of my life. Go ahead Jonas that the defense uh put you guys some pretty good field position throughout the night. I mean you've been practicing against these guys every day throughout camp. I'm sure you're not surprised by how they came up. Performance data gets out for. Oh yeah, absolutely. I thought they played tremendous. I thought coach Gibson did a great job of preparing them with the perfect game plan and I mean that's just who they are. That's what our defenses, their competitive guys. And they always tell us, I mean today was Just get us some points. It doesn't matter if we scored three points or 50 points. We're gonna we're gonna hold them to zero and that's just their mentality and it's also gonna go against and practice all the time for to get that competitive feel and to get that game like experience with them. Go ahead. Mike. Hey devin congrats on the win man. I've got a two part question for you. One is we talked about just how you guys were jelling coming into your opener so offensively, can you just tell us over all your thoughts on the performance tonight? And the second part is what did you see out of your offensive line? Obviously 300 yards almost on the ground. You stay pretty, pretty clean. Their um what did you make from the big guys up front? Yeah, I thought they played tremendous and I mean that's what coach coach Garrison expects out of them. That's what we expect out of them as an offense. And we know exactly what they're capable of doing each and every week. And I'm extremely proud of all those guys as well as our running backs. I thought Donovan Ricky Jordan Albert at the end. I thought everyone played really hard. They ran the ball very well and I mean just being able to play behind an offensive line like that is just very exciting to be a quarterback and just being able to distribute the ball with guys in front of me that are very willing to protect me all the time. Go ahead Brett. What did coach say to you about that little scramble there toward the end of the game. Oh, he told me to slide. He said he didn't want me taking any hits. And I mean that's just the type of player that I am. I mean, I guess you could say I'm a little hard nose and just wanted to get into the end zone. But yeah, he just told me to get down next time. Thanks a lot. Anything else for devon? All right. That looks like it's it. Yeah, thank you on the wind. Thank you. Okay. All right guys, that wraps it up
