The Washington Football Team defeated the New York Giants, 30-29, on Thursday night when kicker Dustin Hopkins nailed a 43-yard field goal to end the game.

However, just moments before Hopkins hit the game-winner, it appeared the Giants had won the game as Washington’s kicker missed a 48-yarder. Fortunately for the Football Team, there were flags.

NFL officials ruled New York defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence was offside on the play, meaning Hopkins would get another chance. He did, and he made the most of it.

It didn’t take long for many to question the call that Lawrence wasn’t offside on the play.

On Friday, the NFL said it believes Lawrence was offside on the play, per Mark Maske of The Washington Post.

It’s tough to argue with officials on whether or not a player is offside. No one sees the line of scrimmage better than the officials. Yes, I am aware the officials were not very good on either side on Thursday night. They missed several calls — impacting both teams.

While some still do not believe the Giants were offside, they were. It’s over. Washington won the game.

Ultimately, the Giants are the ones to blame for not leaving FedEx Field with a win on Thursday night.
