'The word rookies in Moto3 isn't correct' - A. Espargaro - Motorcycle Sports

Pedro Acosta has been a prominent figure in the Moto3 World Championship in his first season, leading by a large margin after five rounds. But, for Aleix Espargaro, the fact that he is a rookie is relative, since like many other riders he already has previous experience in several of the visited circuits and in similar bikes.

Quoted by the website speedweek.com, the spaniard maintained that the riders of the Moto3 World Championship are not exactly newcomers thanks to their experience at the FIM CEV Moto3 and the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup:

– Everyone is talking about Pedro Acosta. Yes, what he does is unbelievable. With all due respect to him and to all the Moto3 riders, but Moto2 is much more difficult. This is a different story. For me, the word “rookies” in Moto3 isn’t really correct because they come from the Spanish championship and the Red Bull Rookies Cup: the bikes are very similar and they already know the tracks.

On the contrary, Espargaro considers Moto2 to be especially complicated, with a much more powerful bike, and highlighted Raul Fernandez’s path: ‘The Moto2 bike is already very powerful, the category is difficult, there are several talented riders. What Raul does this year is truly incredible for me’.
