FLINT, MI - Cosplayers had a chance to show off their creativity at one of the bigger comic cons to take place in Michigan since the start of the pandemic as comic cons slowly return to the state.
Last week it was Motor City Nightmares with scores of celebrity guests and cosplayers. This week it was Really Cool Comic Con in Flint taking place at the Dort Federal Center on Saturday, August 7. Next week it’s Grand Rapids Comic Con with Astronomicon taking place the following weekend in Ann Arbor.
Now that you’re all caught up on comic cons around Michigan this month, here’s a look at some of the best cosplayers we came across at Really Cool Comic Con 2021.
This is Tessa from Lansing dressed as Harley Quinn.
Plenty of kids dressed in cosplay at Really Cool Comic Con, like 1 and a half year old Joslynn from Davison. Here she is as an Ewok. That’s Mary, her mother with her.
Han shot first! This Mos Eisley cantina scene was set up where you could act like you were Han Solo shooting bounty hunter Greedo, just like he did in the movie. This is Greg from Clarkston doing just that.
From left to right, this is Luna, Clover and Chris all from Brighton. Luna is Mary from “Kakegurui,” Clover is Kokichi from “Danganronpa” and Chris is Junko from “Danganronpa.” “Danganronpa” is a Japanese video game franchise. “Kakegurui” is a Japanese manga series.
This is Michael. He’s from Burch Run. Michael is dressed as Sithrak from “Oglaf.” “Oglaf” is a web comedy series.
This is Ronnie and Elijah from Howell. Ronnie is Tubbo from “Dream SMP” and Elijah is Ranboo from “Dream SMP.” “Dream SMP” is an invite-only survival multiplayer Minecraft server created by YouTubers.
Check out five year old Stella. She’s from Flint Township. Stella is, of course, dressed as Wonder Woman.
This is Disfusional Studios Cosplay. She’s a professional cosplayer. She’s dressed as Retsuko from “Aggretsuko,” which is a Japanese animated comedy on Netflix.
Here we have, from left to right, Clarence, Jaiden and Julia. They are all from Oxford and dressed as characters from “Demons Lair,” a fantasy role-playing game system.
Curtis from Fenton thought he looked a little like Captain Jean Luc Picard from “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” so he dressed like him.
This is Stephanie from Brighton dressed as Harley Quinn.
From left to right in this picture we have Mono, Emir and Syd, all from Mount Pleasant. Mono is dressed as Ki-Bo from “Danganronpa,” Emir who you can barely make out in the middle in the hat, is Himiko Yumeno from “Danganronpa” and Syd is Emma from “The Promised Neverland.”
Check out Russell from Saginaw dressed as Monterey Jack from “Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers.”
Look at Lamont from Oak Park. He’s dressed as Thor.
This is Mike and his son Oliver (6) from Davison. Mike is dressed as The Riddler and Oliver is Thor.
This is Jeremy from Rochester. He cosplayed as Skeletor from “He-Man.”
Remember 1 and a half year old Joslynn from earlier? This is her encountering a little remote controlled R2-D2.
Check out 6 year old David and Blake from Owosso. David is Slimer from “Ghostbusters” while Blake is a Ghostbuster Minion.
This is Wesley (left) from Waterford dressed as Nightcrawler from “X-Men.” Then there’s Misha from Waterford dressed as Harley Quinn.
Here’s Tyler from Royal Oak as Barry Allen Flash along with Louis from Grand Blanc as Wally West Flash. They posed for a photo with DC Comics writer and publisher Bill Messner-Loebs, whose work includes “Flash.”
These two are from the “Jurassic Park” Motor Pool, Michigan Division. These are actually their own Jeeps that they drive around in everyday. They go to events and parties and also hold events for photo ops and rides in the vehicles.
Actor Corin Nemec (left) took photos with fans at Really Cool Comic Con. He’s on the left. On the right is actor/director/writer Bron Theron. Theron and Nemec will soon be shooting a movie in Flint called “Half Dead Fred.”
